In order to better promote the communication and development in respect of the nickel-cobalt industry in China and Indonesia, the SMM Indonesia Nickel and Cobalt Industry Chain Conference 2023 was held in Jakarta, Indonesia on May 30-31, 2023. Local Chinese enterprises, Indonesian government authorities, as well as 300 global industrial organizations and business representatives participated in this conference, focusing on the current situation and development opportunities of the new energy nickel-cobalt industry.
As the representatives of Lygend Resources & Technology Co., Ltd., the title sponsor of the conference, Cai Jianwei, Executive Director and Deputy General Manager of the company, Ge Kaicai, General Manager of the Investment and Development Department, and Hu Honggen, Deputy General Manager of the Investment and Development Department of the company, attended the conference. Ge Kaicai delivered an opening speech and delivered a keynote speech titled "the Development of Nickel Resources in Indonesia under the Limitation and Expansion of RKEF-based Production Capacity".
Ge Kaicai detailed the three stages of the development of Indonesia's nickel industry and the changes in nickel ore smelting processes, and proposed new development opportunities for the Indonesian nickel industry.
Under the background of increasing global demand for clean energy, nickel, as an important raw material in the electric vehicle industry, is particularly important for its sustainability and environmental friendliness in supply. The advanced technology and sustainable practice of Lygend Resources provide strong support for the achievement of clean and economical nickel supply.
Ge Kaicai conducted in-depth discussions on the development and utilization of laterite nickel ores based on the characteristics of Indonesian nickel resources through the innovation and sustainable practice of Lygend Resources.
Lygend Resources has successfully utilized advanced High-Pressure Acid Leaching (HPAL) technology to produce high-quality intermediate product nickel-cobalt hydroxide (MHP) from limonite and put it into production with nickel sulfate. This technology is not only economically efficient, but also significantly improves the utilization rate of limonite. Therefore, it has a profound reference value for the sustainable development of the nickel industry.
Through the application of the RKEF and the acid leaching, Lygend Resources have achieved the fullest utilization of limonite and sapropel, avoiding the waste of limonite. Furthermore, Lygend Resources focuses on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues, actively improving its own ESG performance, and integrating ESG practices throughout the entire process of upstream mining and downstream processing in order to achieve sustainable development.
Lygend Resources actively responds to the call of the government, actively implements the "Belt and Road" Initiative, and through close cooperation with local partners, constantly makes new breakthroughs in Indonesia's nickel industry. Moreover, it tries to make due contributions to the local economy and employment.
Regarding the nickel smelting process, Ge Kaicai proposed that the solution for limonite should be HPAL, and the industry should implement more HPAL hydrometallurgy projects to produce nickel-cobalt hydroxide (MHP) and improve the utilization rate of limonite.
Finally, Ge Kaicai proposed the future of the nickel industry should depend on Indonesia, and Lygend Resources should continue to increase investment in Indonesia, jointly creating a better nickel industry ecology in Indonesia.
